Review:
Once again, the crew of the Enterprise comes across a planet with some oddities that aren’t quite real. In this case, in the command of Trelane, an adolescent alien who thinks its play time. Its more fun for him then it is for the Star Trek crew.
This episode I don’t believe is very important to the overall story of the series. It’s a good episode, but easy to skip if you just want the highlights.
Also, if you are a Q fan, this episode might be something to watch. The Q are much like Trelane and several elements of this episode are reused in Farpoint.
Interesting Notes:
- Directed by Don McDougall
- Written by Paul Schneider
- Tremaine is quite like the Q; and writers go back and forth on whether he is or not. I believe as far as canon is concerned; he is not. He is looked on as an adolescent being of whatever species he is, which would counter the information that Q gives over the years on the continuum. Its possibly that the Q are a similar race.
Pros:
- Yeoman Ross is prepared to do her job in a 19th century dress.
Cons:
- Timeline issues
