Review:
Our adventure today is oddly enough (no doubt due to budget) almost all onboard the Enterprise. The premise for this episode is there is a alien, an energy being who feeds off of negative energy, particularly that of hate.
It targets two species that are near by, the Federation, and The Klingons, and puts them together increasing their current distrust in one another. Kang, the Klingon commander, believes that Kirk blew up his ship and colony while Kirk believes the same of Kang.
The concept was good, although it ended up feeling a little flat. I think if there had been more involvement of both sides in figuring out the truth, it might have worked better. It also made several of the characters really out of character.
We did learn that Chekov is an only child though. I wonder if Kelvin!Chekov is also an only child.
Interesting Notes:
- Directed by Marvin J. Chomsky
- Written by Jerome Bixby
Pros:
- Kang! I loved the DS9 episode he is in.
- Seeing a Klingon woman for the first time.
Cons:
- The more I watch this show the more the Klingon make-up in the TOS disturbs me.
- It ended up feeling a little flat
